Ahmedabad has been selected as the proposed host city, aligning with India’s strategy to develop the necessary infrastructure for major international sporting events. The city is also a leading candidate for India’s 2036 Olympic bid.

India previously hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2010 in New Delhi. Hosting the 2030 edition is viewed as a strategic step toward achieving the nation’s Olympic aspirations.

The CGF will evaluate India’s bid alongside other potential candidates, including a proposed “United Canada” bid. The final decision on the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games is expected to be announced at the CGF General Assembly.
